Many things that people who can see take for granted are denied to the blind and visually impaired. Among them are television pictures and wonders of the World Wide Web.
But sounds - especially voices and music - can give them a window onto many aspects of the world they cannot see.
This is how Sain Clwyd Sound brings different facets of everyday life into the lives and homes of hundreds of blind and visually impaired people in North Wales.
Every month Sain Clwyd Sound produces audio tapes and increasingly CDs - in both Welsh and English - that go out to several hundred visually impaired listeners. Each 90-minute cassette tape or 80-minute CD is an audio magazine, with stories, features, interviews, music and entertaining items about the locality.
The service is free and available to any registered blind or visually impaired person living in Norh Wales.
